Chapter Nineteen: The Office for Resignations

As much as everybody is being left out in the dark, the evil ploy discussed earlier regarding the plan for a galactic siege is not without knowledge, because intelligence efforts during the golden era of the world of Fantasy did not fail to serve its interests, and the select few that was involved in the operation during that pivotal day is right there, and inside the government where the potential core machinations to be used is conveniently located. Their role is not to surprise the evil plotters, but to provide intelligence information to the working agents in different time periods.

One of those working as intelligence operatives is the incumbent Chief Minister for the Conduct of State (not to be confused with the Space Chief Minister), who heads the Office for Resignations, better known as OfRes, the de facto Head of State, and who has the power to dissolve the Ministry of Space when asked by the President of the Planetary Co-Op or the supermajority of the Planetary Delegation. But much more than fulfilling his ceremonial functions, he is more concerned with his role as intelligence agent in gathering data pertaining to this impending military siege.

The main reason why he is holding to this position, despite its lesser de jure importance, is its ability to convene the Other Matters Commission, or the OM Comm, which is the main organ responsible in investigating corruptions, anomalies, and irregularities within the management of the business of government.

But the Chief Minister is not concerned merely on discovering anomalies in simple fiscal accountability and liability, but he is digging much deeper into the patterns associated with the secret maneuverings involving the movement of military assets necessary for the adequate preparation for this galactic siege. He is religiously playing the game, just like all the actors that are cognizant of this "treachery of demonic magnitude." If he must close his eyes for the things he unearthed in the process to give way for the more perfect timing, so must it be.

Today, the Chancellor of the Constitution wrote his office an official letter requesting to constitute the Other Matters Commission "to investigate in truth and in fact all matters relating to the opening and closure of the Lore of Commons, with the common purpose of prescribing a definite rule that must govern the definition and gavity of such acts."

He knew all along that the Chancellor is part of this shameless sabotage, by just merely reading his acts and pronouncements, and he has all the ulterior motives in trying to do his solemn duty of "defending the intent and purposes of the constitution."

The ulterior motive in scrutiny is something dark. A very dark matter, indeed.

And now, he must oblige to do action with the receipt of this official correspondence. He is trying to picture which questions the Chancellor wanted to escape as a potential judiciable question in future legal cases, and which ones to leave to "stealthily" provide a justification for the useless provisions of the Existential Library Act.

"How shameless can you be?" the Chief Minister murmured to himself after returning the letter to its envelope.

He rose from his seat to gaze at the busy hustle of the City Center from his office floor-to-ceiling glass panels. Planet rue Dominard was especially beautiful in this season, and he can't help but to take a peek of the magnificent view, take it all in, so that to effectively meditate on what he must do next.
