Chapter Ten: Pietropolis

The capital of the world of Fantasy, the beautiful city of Pietropolis, woke up to an extremely disappointing news that involves matters of colonial interest. Ever since the Office of the Minority Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process has authorized peacekeeping missions across borders between the world of the Vampires and the world of Werewolves were ordered by the Minority President of the world of Fantasy, more atrocities and incidents of piracy were recorded in the contested areas even after the effectivity of the Executive Order implementing the said efforts to maintain law and order has been religiously made.

But the more the Devolved Minority Government tries to rein in the region by passing Resolutions to effect a rules-based policy within the contended Fantasy Autonomous Region or FAR, the harder it was for the Minority Presidency to elicit the support of the erring parties. In fact, a lot of effort to make them go back to the negotiating table has proven to be futile, and every legal way possible proposed to carefully navigate this sensitive conflict seems to be useless.

The Office of the Majority Leader of the Houses at-Large, which is in charge with supervising "the well-functioning of the Devolved Minority Government," even tried to resolve the issue by implementing policies that will positively affect the economic activities of both the Vampires and the Werewolves, but nothing shall pressure them into submission to the will of the establishment. Because of this, the Council of the Devolved Minority Government have decided to maintain the status quo within the Region "until such a time that the peace process finds common ground beneficial to both of the erring parties."

The way this status quo has been implemented became questionable as further allegations of corruption surfaced regarding the illegal trade of scams, and the manufacturing of other illicit substances, that are transported within the Main Thoroughfares that involves a certain plot to secretly destroy the success of the peace process.

But nothing of these anomalies has been proven, and everything remains to be pure speculation at this point.

So now, the crisp early morning has been a witness to another cruel act from this senseless fighting. The Pietropolis Council of the Minority Government has confirmed the reports that another Vampire fell into a victim of a presumed murder, which further fuel the extreme divide and hatred within the region. As expected, the brutal killing has angered the Vampire side, and is seriously accusing the Werewolves as the ones responsible behind the attacks.

The Vampires have openly vowed to retaliate, while the Werewolves denied any involvement in the incident. It is expected that the recent bloody incidents between the two races will further intensify the feeling of abomination and hatred towards one another.

The issue surrounding the Fantasy Autonomous Region could have been settled for once by the opening of the Lore of Commons, but the Freedom of Information Act has been passed without this very important provision. Even the Minority President expresses doubt that the Existential Library will really solve problems relating to anything of value.

The morning sun slowly rises above the Pietropolis skyline, and a new death, anew, will be discovered to be investigated. For now, nothing concrete can be done to totally prevent any violence from erupting in the region. The Minority President had no other choice but to write the Chancellor of the Constitution to deploy more capable Space Police in the contested areas to support the weaker Delegation Colony Guards in enforcing the respective peace Resolutions.
