Chapter Sixty Six: Scam Courier
The two Space Police, one named Connor and one named Ephraim, emerged from the crowd, crossing the busy Street called Maggiore Avenue, and then turned left into the Boulevard of Dreams, just directly across the Viceroy Rotonda, in that beautiful but crisp morning of the glorious city, located in the most clear and sunny Planet of Mortshamgood, which is part of the proud constituency of the current Chancellor of the Constitution.
They were following three suspected persons of an identified group of scam dealers operating within the "red Orbital," an area designated to be the epicenter of the trading of illegal substances in all of the orbits of the Planetary Co-Operation.
It was through an intelligence report detailing this specific activity that prompted them to undertake this surveillance operation, in the hopes that may finally lead them to one of the "big bosses" operating the scam ring in the area. The mission order was immediately deployed, with the aim of infiltrating the system that may enable them to gain more evidence in the middle of the rare circumstances, by identifying the modus operandi of the ruthless ploy that allows these scam mules to efficiently evade law enforcement agents assigned in the Orbit.
But no police team so far, even the best from the Home Authority, was able to inflitrate the system on how scams proliferate the very nature of the values system, which are embedded in the Spatial society that later on aids the efforts of these unidentified schemes in promoting the consumption of the scams, and all other illegal substances that could affect the normal thinking of someone who has a claim by right and for the sake of the more clear and logical reasoning.
There were thirteen Space Police who had been dead so far with respect to cases involving scams, specifically those who were assigned within the territorial boundaries of this Orbital system, when personnel were ordered to conduct special operations that might have been able to identify the personalities of those stealthily operating their scam businesses in this beautiful planet, simply by legally evading the reach of the Home Authority, hiding in plain sight.
All of the reported deaths were all suspicious; and the names behind them were held sacred. Untouchable.
In this regard, no viable explanation was able to be competently inferred from the internal investigation that followed, in an attempt to understand the circumstances of the deaths in question, and there were more reported deaths that followed after that.
Death after death it continued; it seems that there was a sickness identified to be responsible for an epidemic that was later on stalled the resolution of these cases, and never reopened (as if deliberately forgotten) for a very long time.
But that was all in the past now. However, the present moment cries for some answers.
The two Space Police enforcers are now walking very fast as they were closing in on the suspects that they were closely monitoring (the couriers identified in the intelligence note) who were now too late to escape a forceful ambush that is about to happen.
