Chapter Fifty Nine: Eternity, Soul and Damage
There were voices conversing somewhere out there, in the deepest corners of the cosmos, debating about the many tragedies, the many anomalies in life, the many sadness, or even the struggles that pose immeasurable challenges to a certain order.
"Is it possible? Is it truly possible now?"
"About what?"
"That the soul can actually withstand bruising?"
"Of course the soul can survive being bruised, being abused, being tossed here and there. The soul can always find its way back home, away from all the darkness that can be experienced in this unfair, fragile world, if only the rational soul will simply let it to be."
"I understand this complicated truth, enlightened Master. I really do. I've already convinced myself to accept this painful reality so many times as a form of my solemn obedience to the obligatory power of love. It's just that there is something that still bothers me, even after tryimg numerous meditation against this very invasive thought that gives trouble to my sactified tranquility."
"What is it that still bothers you, then? Be more specific."
"It is a question of eternity, Master."
"Okay, so what about eternity that bothers you to the point of confusion? It seems very serious that you had to raise this very important question on this occasion."
"I just wanted to know, Master. How can something that is eternal, like a living soul for instance, could become so vulnerable to its surroundings that it becomes capable of bruising? Why is it competent of accepting wounds, and then endure pain?"
"Well, then, if you really must know. The answer to this question seems very obvious at first glance, but you have to understand the complicated solution to the eternity problem. To become eternal is not to become stagnant. It is to keep moving; to keep expanding timelessly, endlessly. After all, to sustain life, one must keep himself in complete motion. He must recognize his accord in the natural order of the universe. It is the rhythm of life that he needed to understand in the universe. Only then that the soup of life, the food for thought, will eventually be manifested."
"I still do not understand, Master."
"I will continue explaining it to you further. As I was saying, it is the consequence of this motion that every soul must endure every pain or suffering that it recognizes from this queer melody that only a unique soul could hear, always ready to form an intricate amalgamation. The wounds he later sustain corresponds to the growth he needed in experience to form his very own substance, his own nature, in order for him to simply find and determine the shape of his predestined existence. The entire operation of the cosmos is simply a lost and found of attraction. A complicated manifestation of cause and effect."
"I do understand the logic of these circumstances, Master. Yet, at the back of my mind, a nagging argument exists that something eternal cannot sustain damage, especially in this weak manner. Like, for example, the human soul. Life is very precious to be wounded in a vulnerable capacity."
"Damage? What do you mean by damage?"
"Aren't all wounds a form of damage?"
"Not all wounds are damage, Young One. Some are simply injuries sustained as a pretext of what he needed to become. The universe, itself, is self-balancing. As long as you recognize the orderly pattern of life, and let the many impetus shape your own substance, the soul will ultimately become so beautiful that it lends itself invincible from all the vulnerabilities that currently exist in the universe."
"And then, what, Master?"
"And then everything changes, as it should be, if we simply let love win. This is the most important thing in the world that needs to happen."
