Chapter Thirty Five: The Choice of a Date

I think it's perfectly possible to explain
how the universe came about
without bringing God into it, but I don't know
everything, and there may well be a God
somewhere, hiding away. Actually, if he is
keeping out of sight, it's because he's
ashamed of his followers and all the cruelty
and ignorance they're responsible for
promoting his name. If I were him,
I'd want nothing to do with them.

Time, as sacred and unstoppable as it is, must come to a point where it will suddenly cease to exist. All cosmological explanations point to a certain time where the universe itself will destroy its own mysterious composition, and, one day, along with that fate, will refuse to expand along with it the same collateral elements of composite byproduct known in the outer space, anymore.

This event shall be initiated somewhere in the future, and the humankind has always been addicted in recording dates and events that transpired in many centuries beforehand that constitute humanity's multiple layers of a storied past. A date must be known, and along with it are the prophecies connected to the appearance of celestial bodies hosted by the heavens above.

To predict the future has long been practiced in connection with Astrology, especially in determining the positions of the heavenly bodies which mostly referring to the constellations and the positioning of the planets and the brief passage of comets and shooting stars as prerequisite to an actual event from happening.

It is as if these non-living things are reminding the living inhabitants of the green planet that a sure peril will befall upon them with divine certainty, but the actual date of this tragic occurence will never be known. Even the beginning of the universe has been a long string of debates among cosmologists and astrophysicists, but nothing concrete has been settled in all the theoretical investigations made.

The start and the end remains to be unknown. The alpha and omega has become the perpetual mystery that still puzzles the existence of life. With the limited knowledge comes a greater curiosity, but the limitations of science becomes a hindrance for everything to be answered accurately in any given time.

Knowledge itself is like lego bricks that builds on the foundation, little by little, and, as it rises, the whole object starts to make sense. It was as if the journey of the universe as it expands in time and space also accompanies man's ultimate pilgrimage to where he was once were, in the beginning; it was the motion of love that it started to follow, and along with it is a mysterious higher being that became the main focus and the subject of the worship of faith.

Humanity's search for purpose has, since then, become a lonely endeavor because of so much distraction that to live, within the concept itself, becomes vague, confusing, and generally unworthy. The human condition characterizes the meaning of life, it is the main impetus that propels the motion of love contained in all of creation.

In fact, even the least qualified lexicographer can refer to love as a verb.
