Chapter Twenty Five: A Mysterious Guest
The Chancellor was seated quietly in his office at the Constitution Department, patiently waiting for his important guest to arrive. He was reviewing the ping pong reports of important pieces of legislation to kill the waiting time, and was in deep concentration until there was three hard knocks on the matted steel door.
"Please, come in," the Chancellor of the Constitution said wanly. It was as if his voice was full of fear, and couldn't almost utter a word to welcome his visitor properly.
The door opened and it was Lucifer who entered the room, dressed in a hooded robe.
"There you are," he said.
Although his physical manifestation was quite different, the Chancellor is most certain who posesses such an eerie voice. He cannot appear to be intimidated at this point if he wanted to succeed in this perilous mission.
"It is always a pleasure to be graced by your presence, Dark Prince," the Chancellor muttered automatically with a solemn vow, fit for a royalty. "I am always your faithful servant."
"Stop this senseless pleasantries and let us move quickly to the main order of business. Surely, you do not want to hurt her?"
The Chancellor's face suddenly change to that of a concerned look. Lucifer gave out a loud, evil laugh.
"Please do not hurt Cinderella! I will do everything that you wanted."
Lucifer smirked. He cannot be fooled by unsolicited praises. Everything has been planned very carefully for this scheme to fully succeed, and there is no space for unrequested flattery to stroke his ego other than to get things done. Always on time and much in order.
"Then, surely, you will help me locate the appearance of the perpendicular star?" Lucifer asked, his words sounding very toxic. There was a poison in his voice.
"I am trying my best, Dark Prince, but the answer you are looking for may lie, ultimately, in the opening of the Lore of Commons."
"No, no," Lucifer said. "You will certainly die once the Lore of Commons was opened. It will suffice for this proposed Existential Library to locate that exact time segment, isn't it?"
"I - I guess so?" the Chancellor said meakly with obvious anxiety. We wasn't exactly sure.
Lucifer laughed again. It was very sinister.
"What happened to the chivalry of the Prince Charming?" Lucifer said, mocking the Chancellor. "Where is your admirable courage now?"
"I am no longer a Prince Charming, and you have my loyalty," he said very quickly. "I will do everything for Cinderella's safety."
"Then do as I say," Lucifer finally said.
