Chapter Twenty: The Planet Easter Baskets
Meanwhile, in the very wealthy Planet Easter Baskets, there is a major industry called the "Plantation of Rocks," which has been the primary source of platinum cords and the metallic elements used to build the Needle Bases' optical mechanism responsible for the blade that protrudes from the main power source of the weapon. Despite being a major industry within the Ministry of Space, Easter Baskets remain to be one of the least populated planets in the Planetary Cooperation at-Large, and there is a good reason why.
First of all, Easter Baskets lies in the southern most frontier of the planetary systems that compose the Cooperation, a very poor location which makes it difficult for travel, much more about the situation of the harsh climate present in the atmosphere that has been the subject of numerous complaints from tourists and migrants alike, as well as those entrepreneurs who are attempting to take a slice of the massive economic opportunity present therein.
Second, Easter Baskets' economy is driven mainly by the Autonomous Local Planetary House Authority (better known as ALPHA), which is a Standing Committee within the Delegation, whose Chairman acts as the Executive Officer of the Planet, a convenient arrangement that makes it very prone to political clashes within the many interests that surrounds this very lucrative territory.
Of course, mercantile interests are always there despite the weaknesses pointed out earlier, so not much repercussions are felt that affects the commercial activity in the area at the national level. The Planet exists as a "preferred territory" as defined by the Statutory Stellar Systems Act, so its budgetary allocations are met with much enthusiasm, especially in the public spending attached to the Spacecraft Yard.
More research are needed in the assay of the terrain of Planet Easter Baskets, as much as its atmosphere attracted attention in recent years, that is similar to a painted Easter Egg as seen from outer space, which explains how it got its name (maybe only the readers of this story will ever know what an Easter Egg is, and not the characters herein, unless the Story Board spoils the plot). Easter Baskets itself is, admittedly, a thing of beauty (despite the difficulties earlier noted), and this core argument cannot be denied, albeit the harsh conditions especially near the equator of the said Planet further diminish the appreciation of both of its aesthetic and utility.
In peace time, the Planet has seen no violence erupting, because its population (mainly businesses) are afforded a special status with regard to tax liabilities, and the employees (in order to attract the most talented labor force) are paid with a very fat paycheck.
But today, a shocking news is about to break and develop during the morning rush in the capital Planet rue Dominard. The mighty Quantum Company and Philosophical Industries that mainly operates in Easter Baskets is about to file for Bankruptcy, and it will be a subject of a complicated string of corruption charges that will explode into a pandemonium of anomalies.
